About

I am an assistant professor of music engineering technology at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. In addition to nine years of teaching, I’ve also worked and consulted for Korg Research and Development, SiriusXM Radio, Diamond Multimedia, Gibson Musical Instruments, National Semiconductor Corporation, and others.

I graduated from the University of Miami in 1989 (Bachelor of Music) and again in 1991 (MSEE) after which I moved to California to work in the Analog Audio Products division of National Semiconductor. I eventually moved to Korg Research and Development, working on the original OASYS synthesizer an then later as the designer and DSP programmer of the Korg 1212I/O PCI card. Around the time the 1212I/O was finished, I got a call from Ken Pohlmann at the University of Miami informing me that a position had become available. Leaving Korg was bittersweet – I really loved working there and the dozen or so audio scientist/musicians I got to work with were truly inspirational. But University Professorships only come up once in a while so I took the chance. While at the University I started an audio consulting company called Tritone Systems, Inc. and worked for various audio companies in all sorts of capacities.

Today I still enjoy the consulting gigs but also still play guitar and write and record music too, including computer game music composition — SpongeBob SquarePants: Employee of the Month, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Crabby Patty and Hidden Mysteries, Graceland (Evis).
